Helthion

 

1. Ashwagandha (Withania Somnifera)

It contains withanolides and alkaloids. Ashwagandha contains Withaferin, 'A' which has antibiotic and anti-inflammatory activity against bacilli and fungi. It possesses immuno-modulator effects. Ashwagandha increases body weight, total proteins and haemoglobin. Hence, it is useful as a haematinic and growth promoter.

Therapeutic Category - Rasayan, Immunostimulant, Tonic.

 

2. Shatavari (Asparagus Raecemosus)

It contains large amount of saccharin matter and mucilage. Shatavari is a tonic and nutritive agent. It prevents ageing and confers immunity. Shatavari improves defense mechanism of host bodies against infections. It contains minerals, which are bio chemically important, present in significant concentration.

Therapeutic Category - Nutritive, tonic, Demulcent.

 

3. Vidarykand (Pueraria Tuberosa)

Vidarykand contains starch, resins and sugar. It plays an important role as balya, rasayana, jivana and varnya. Hence, it is an ideal tonic. Vidarykand contains Tuberocin which has anti bacterial, antifungal and anti-tubercular activity.

Therapeutic Category - Tonic, Rasayana, Antibacterial.
 
4. Bala Mul (Sida Cordifolia)

Bala mul contains sitoindoside 'X', which has adaptogenic and immuno-stimulant properties. Bala mul has antibacterial, anti-plaque and anti-fungal activities. Bala roots are regarded as tonic, demulcent, diuretic, cooling and astringent. It works as an ideal cardiac tonic.


Therapeutic Category - Asringent, Cardio tonic, Antibacterial, Antifungal.

 

5. Anant Mul (Hemidesmus Indicus)

Anant mul is a valuable alterative tonic, demulcent, diaphoretic and diuretic. It is specially prescribed in dyspepsia, loss of appetite i.e. nutritional disorders, skin disorders etc. It increases appetite and improves digestion processes, which help in assimilation process. It is a good blood purifier and tonic. Hence, it is said to promote health, vigour and it is a cure for all kinds of diseases caused by vitiated blood.

Therapeutic Category - Tonic, Diaphoretic.

 

6. Guduchi (Tinospora Cordifolia)

It contains tinosporaside, tinocardiofolioside, tinosporic acid, and tinosporin. Guduchi is a bitter tonic and antibacterial agent. It shows immuno stimulant action. In the liver Guduchi prevents filarous haemorrhage and promotes generation of tissue. In Ayurveda, Guduchi is explained as an ideal rasayana.

Therapeutic Category - Antibacterial, Liver tonic and rasayana.

 

7. Jesthimadh (Glycyrrhiza Glabra)

It contains glycyrrhizin, glycyrrhizic acid, glabranin and stigmasterol. Jesthimadh is a tonic since it is a source of chemicals like glycyrrhizin and its salts. It is a high value herb used for weakness, anorexia, palpitition, and dizziness. It is antiviral, anti-corticogenic, demulcent.

      Therapeutic Category - Demulcent, Tonic.

 

8. Amla  (Phyllanthus Embelica)

It contains ascorbic acid, tannins, gallic acid and emblicol. Amla    is an antioxidant with free radical scavenging properties, which may be due to the presence of high levels of super oxide dismutase. Amla is a rich source of Vitamin C and so retards oxidation. It is an ideal liver tonic, which has cooling properties and is useful as a tonic for heart. It is an effective tonic for the entire body system.
