  1. Avoid hot and spicy foods as well as the sour salty ones. Rather eat foods that are sweet or bitter in taste.
  2. Eat sweet fruits such as avocados, dates, figs, pears, and melons.
  3. Prefer to eat sweet or bitter vegetables like cabbage, cauliflower, leafy greens, and peas. Avoid pungent vegetables like garlic, onions, chili peppers, and brinjals.
  4. Minimize intake of caffeine. Caffeine causes heating. Drink plenty of fluids like coconut water and fruit juices, instead.
  5. Sleep on your right side. It encourages breathing through the left nostril. According to Ayurveda, this helps in cooling the system.
  6. Don’t go out during the hottest part of the day. Sunburns aggravate Pitta.
  7. Avoid midday workouts in the hot sun. Choose activities such as swimming, gentle yoga, or a walk in fresh air.
