-The Ayurvedic pharmacological property of Itchinil is Ras-katu, tikta, kashay; Guna-laghu, ruksha; Veerya-Ushna; Vipak-Katu. These properties are antagonist of vitiated vata and kapha.
-Itchinil contains Shudha Gandhak (Prified Sulphur), Tankan Khar(Alkalis of Borax powder)along with the base- Vaseline.
-The sulphur is the 3rd most abundant, mineral in the body; about half concentrated in our muscles, skin and bones and is essential for life. It has been called natures “beauty mineral” because it keeps your complexion clear and youthful and hair glossy and smooth. Collagen production in the body depends on sulphur to create healthy skin and heals scars. Organic Sulphur has an ability to bind to mucous membranes and form a natural block against allergen. Through detoxification, it eliminates free radicals and improves cell-permeability. Sulphur has antifungal, antibacterial, and keratolytic activity. Hence it is used widespread in dermatological disorders such as acne vulgaris, rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis, dandruff, pityriasis versicolor, scabies, and warts.
-The Borax is pungent in taste, hot in nature, dry, piercing (Tikshna) property, useful in vata-kapha imbalance disease. It shows antitoxic & cardio-tonic actions. In Ayurveda, Various medicinal combinations of borax are mentioned for skin disorders e.g. Purified borax and purified alum (spatika) dissolved in water is useful in washing of chronic eczema, even in oozing variety. It is also used in Nail bed infection, Kshudra-rog(Smaller ailments of Skin disorders), gonorrhoea, leucorrhea etc. Borax has been studied to work against severe scabies, cleansing of ulcers, with anti-bacterial against staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
-Vaseline is a petroleum jelly, a mixture of paraffin, microcrystalline wax and mineral oil. It prevents water from escaping the body through the skin and drying it out. The occlusive properties of Vaseline seal the skin breakage. This prevents bacteria or impurities from entering the wound, allowing the body\’s natural healing properties to work without interruption. Thus it helps in soothing the surface and preventing moisture from escaping.

Direction for use:
-Apply ointment twice a day or as advised by physician, after cleaning the local area with soap and water. Don’t rub ointment. Take care of applied ointment from getting wiped out. Discontinue the use in case of hypersensitivity reaction.
-For external use only.
-Store in a cool dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 300 C , away from the reach of children. Protect from direct sunlight. Do not freeze.
-One with known case of hypersensitivity to Sulphur should use this medicine carefully. One must apply little bit quantity over skin of forearm, wait for 15min., if any abnormal symptoms such as burning, tingling, itching, red rash etc. seen then wiped it out and stop using it.

1. Manjistha(Rubia Cordifolia)
Manjistha consists of red principle purpurin, yellow principle manjistin, garancin, alizarin and xanthine. It has alterative, diuretic, astringent, antiseptic, pigment stimulatory properties. It is an excellent blood purifier.

2. Senna(Cassia Actufolia)
Senna contains sennosides A & B. Sennosides reduces heat in the body thus reduce pitta dosha and provides relief from pimples and boils.

3. Haldi(Curcuma Longa)
It contains 5% volatile oil and yellow coloured curcuminoids. The chief component of curcuminoids is curcumin. It also contains turmerone, zingiberine, borneol and caprylic acid. When taken internally, turmeric is a cure for many skin problems, boils and chronic skin eruptions due to its blood purifying properties.

4. Neem (Azadirachata Indica)
Constituents of neem leaves are azadirachitin, meliantrol and salanin, nimbidin. The active constituents have antimicrobial, antiseptic and antibacterial properties, which prevent acne, boils and other infectious skin problems.

5. Guduchi (Tinospora Cordifolia)
It contains clerodone furano diterpenes viz columbin, tinosporaside and alkaloids. Guduchi contains bitter principles, which has rakta-pitta shamak properties.
