Jiwadaya Antaj

 
 

1.     Khajur [Phoenix Sylvestris]

Khajur contains valuable salts and iron in an assimilable form. It also contains tannin, extractive matter, mucilage, and lime. It is very nutritious and a demulcent tonic. It provides a cooling effect and acts as a laxative as well. It helps in preventing constipation.

 

2.     Jesthimadh [Glycyrrhiza Glabra]

Jesthimadh contains glycyrrhizin, a mixture of potassium and calcium salts of glycyrrhizinic acid. It is credited with anti-viral & anti-bacterial activities. The drug constituents contribute to its anti-ulcer activity. Thus, it is beneficial in the treatment of peptic and duodenal ulcers. Jesthimadh relieves irritating effects of acids. It relives gaseous distention and increases appetite.

 

3.     Dhania Fruit [Coriandrum Sativum]

Dhania contains borneol, flavonoides, coriandrin, as well as pyridine. Dhania fruit is used in flatulence, indigestion, vomiting and bilious complaints. It is a stomachic and has anti-spasmodic and carminative properties.

  

4.     Galo (Guduchi) [Tinospora Cordifolia]

It contains alkaloids viz., palmatine, berberine tinocordifolioside, tinosporal. Guduchi is very effective in the treatment of hyperacidity. Guduchi is very safe in ulcerative conditions and is effective in acid diarrhea.

 

5.     Amala [ Phyllanthus Emblica]

Amala contains alkoloids viz; phyllantidine, and phyllantine, pectine and minerals. Dried amla has anti- microbial properties. It is very effective in the treatment of amlapitta (pectic ulcer) and dyspepsia. A dried fruit is often used as a medicine in bilious complaints. It antagonizes gastric acid secretion.

 

6.     Kariyatu [Swertia  Chirata]

Kariyatu contains bitter principles amarogentine, and amarowserin. It exhibits anti-hepatotoxic, anti-inflammatory and anti-ulcerogenic activities. It is a bitter tonic. It diminishes hyperacidity, flatulence and cures biliousness.

 

7.     Sunth [Zingiber Officinale]

Sunth contains gingerdiones, and gingerglycolipids. Sunth and its constituents act as digestive and possess antiulcer, cholagogic, and anti emetic properties. It increases gastro intestinal motility, which may be due to the antiserotoninergic activity. It inhibits gastric secretion in pylorus.

 

8.     Kala Draksha [ Vitis Vinifera] :

It contains chlorides of sodium & potassium tartarate of lime. Draksha is demulcent, refrigerant, diuretic, and cooling agent. It is useful in bilious dyspepsia and constipation.

 

9.     Tamal Patra [Cinnamomum Tamala]:

Tamal Patra contains eugenol, terpene and cinnamic aldehyde. It is useful in flatulence and dyspepsia. It acts as a digestive tonic.
