Knowing Ayurveda and its Dosha’s

Ayurveda is a holistic healing science which comprises, Ayu and Veda meaning life and knowledge/science, literally meaning the science of life. It’s a science dealing with treatment of diseases and is also a complete way of life.

The Ayurvedic understanding of the universe is based on a three‐ fold system called the Tridosha Theory. The tridosha balances every physiological and psychological process in humans. The interaction among them determines the qualities and conditions of a person. A peaceful state of the Tridosha ( Vaata, Pitta, Kapha) forms balance and health and an imbalance in the tridosha, be an excess or deficiency, exhibits as a sign of disease.
Vata, pitta and kapha are present in every cell, tissue and organ in different scales.
Vata is accountable for the movements of the body and mind. Balanced Vata produces flexibility and a balanced mind.
Pitta is composed of fire and water. It functions are correlated with the digestive processes, metabolic activities and body temperature. Balanced Pitta lends itself to intelligence and leadership.
Kapha is constituted of earth and water. Kapha corresponds to building of body tissues and lubricates, moistens and maintains immunity. Balanced Kapha is love and forgiveness.
